Donghak Peasant Revolution Memorial Park

Donghak Peasant Revolution Memorial Park was opened on May 11, 2022 (Donghak Peasant Revolution Day) at Jeongeup Hwangtohyeon Battelfield (Historic Site No.295), where the Donghak Peasant Army achieved a great victory over the Jeolla Gamyeong Army on May 11, 1894. In Donghak Peasant Revolution Memorial Park, permanent exhibitions and various educational experience programs are being held to spread the historical meaning of the Donghak Peasant Revolution to the whole nation.

Sabaltongmun (Bowl Manifesto) Plaza

Sabaltongmun is a revolt plan to eliminate the tyranny of Jo Byung-gap and to create a better world. To conceal the leader, participants wrote their names in a bowl shape and this plaza represents the rounded-shaped of the Bowl Manifesto. The pillars erected around the square symbolize the bamboo spears, and the pointed ovals at the top of each pillar symbolize torches used at that time.
